Inter City C6 Overhaul Confirmed
Railcare has been awarded a £5m contract by Porterbrook, the owners of the Greater Anglia's Inter City coaches, to undertake the scheduled C6 overhaul and additional repairs to the 111 vehicles in the GA's fleet.
The work is scheduled to commence in October and will continue through to July 2016 with 5 carriages undergoing work at any one time.
The work to be done includes exterior shot blasting, examination of vehicle structures, corrosion repairs and repainting in Greater Anglia colours. There will also be a full test of the electrical systems and an overhaul of the air conditioning and central locking systems. Floors and carpets will be cleaned or replaced as appropriate.
Porterbrook is investigating the possibility of also including the extensive modifications needed to make the trains compliant with disability regulations which would see them continue to operate beyond 2020.
