Dovercourt Station Revamp Plan Is Scrapped

Plans to revamp Dovercourt station at a cost of £150,000 have been scrapped because National Express East Anglia (NXEA) and Network Rail are unhappy with the terms of the lease to make it happen.

There had been plans to create a restaurant and perhaps a creche or even doctor's surgery as well as improve facilities for passengers. Grants were in place from the Dovercourt Township Heritage Trust and the Railway Heritage Fund. A third party would have taken over the project by leasing the building with the agreement of NXEA and Network Rail. However this agreement has not been obtained.
